Man Offers Strangers Furnished Home For A Year

A lot of times, the subject of good deeds and being a good Christian comes to most Christian minds. What are good deeds? What sorts of things can or do we do in our daily lives that constitute for a good loving Christian? Is there a standard? How far are we willing to go to show that we are truly loving people and followers of Christ? Do we need to show anyone at all? Or must we be a living example?

I just wanted to share this story and my thoughts about this wonderful man and how he has done such a beautiful positive thing for a family in need. Please check out this video of a man who gave up his home for a family he never met.

Mathew 5:15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Think about it. He gave up his entire home for a grateful family of 5 who was homeless (mother Dukes and her 4 children). He doesn’t appear to have been afraid to do something like this. You can even tell through the tears in his eyes that it was truly a loving gesture.

Would you say that this man’s deeds reflect something that Jesus himself would do? How many of you would be able to do something like this? To be honest, I know I myself would have trouble, especially if I didn’t know the family moving in. Look how easily he gave up his place. And not only that, but he offered his home rent free for a full year!

Many people would initially think, ‘How could you let complete strangers into your home?’ or ‘Is he crazy?’ As his mother said, “Have you lost your mind?”. Most would rather charge rent. I can only say that this gesture must’ve came directly from the heart. It seems only a man like this was raised in a truly, loving Christian home with none other than the presence of Jesus Christ. I cannot fathom any other explanation. Besides his father’s positive generous influences of his own and always having an extra bed while growing up for those in need, what would drive someone to do such a wonderful thing for a complete stranger?

As you have seen in the video, there is a scene where the family prays over their food “Thank you for the love that we share. Amen”. I pray that Tony Talbert’s family and himself are blessed. He is a true example of the loving kindness of our Lord. This story is amazing… Imagine how beautiful our world would be if more people were altruistic in their nature like this wonderful man.

John 4:7-8 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Jesus Footprints In the Snow (With Poem- Created By Request)

This print was created upon request. Inspired by the famous “Footprints in the Sand” Poem someone has requested that they have a version of this poem to match the art print. I thought it was a wonderful idea. She loved it so much and so I thought, others may like it too. After all, there are footprints in the snow in this art piece. The Lord is always there to carry us from the darkness and into the light as long as we trust Him and keep strong in our faith.

he will never let
the righteous be shaken.

Psalm 107:13-15
13 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble,
and he saved them from their distress.
14 He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness,
and broke away their chains.
15 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for mankind,

The Greatest Gift Of All…

Today I would like to take the time to honor our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. With all the hustle and bustle of the Christmas spirit of giving, many people see today as another day to go out shopping for gifts for friends, family members, etc. Let us not elude the true meaning of Christmas, the celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I have provided a nice video with the song “O Holy Night” sung by Josh Groban. The video is a visual representation of the miracle birth of God’s gift to the world, His only Son, Jesus Christ. This is a simple visual reminder of the significance of the Christmas season. Jesus, a gift from God, so that we may be cleansed of our sins and have everlasting life.

Matthew 1:21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

~Isaiah 9:6
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

~Matthew 2:11. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child (Jesus) with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshiped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented him with gifts; gold and frankincense and myrrh.

Merry Christmas and may God bless you. And please be mindful, that when choosing gifts for others this Christmas to please think of things that will glorify our God.

Proverbs 3:9 Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce;

So there is this new show coming out January 1, 2013 on TLC called Sisterhood. Its about the lives of the wives of Pastors in the church. The following video is an advertisement from TLC’s YouTube account advertising the show. Please check it out.

What do you think of this? Is this the way a Pastor’s wife should be? Are these women acting in a way that says,” I believe in the Word of our Lord?” Do you think TLC is going to accurately portray the norm when it comes to what a pastor’s wife truly is? Personally, I’m not looking forward to watching this show. I don’t feel anything Holy about this show. The women were arguing, getting tattoos, etc. I mean, it is true that we are all born sinners, but I wonder, why glorify remaining in that state of mind? I say if TLC wanted to have a show for Pastors and their wives, it should be about the things they do to help promote the community. The positive things they do for children and people in need. Who knows, maybe they’ll have an episode or two on it. But from what I see in the advertisement, I have a feeling this won’t be happening.

This is why a lot of people already look down on the Christian community. There are these outrageous examples of people in the Christian faith. But then again, the media will do anything to sell a “good show” right?

Matthew 7:15-16 15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?”

I personally think TLC chose these women to make the church look bad. There are plenty of other pastor’s wives who behave much better than these ladies. I pray that this show does not complete an entire season, much less make it past one.

Please, share your thoughts on this show. Is this something that you will find worth watching? Do you think this show accurately portrays the lives of those who hold their faith in God?

To Honor and To Remember

Today is one week from the day in which the children at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT have been called to God. Within days of the incident and continuing, the victims have been laid to rest. Today the bell towers of various churches across Connecticut have rung 26 times to honor and remember the victims of the Newtown tragedy.

Here is a song that I love by Mark Schultz called “He Will Carry Me”. It gives me strength and hope in the love our Lord has for us. Please do not hold any negative emotions inside of you. Feel free to release them and let God take care of it all. Let go and let God.

I just want to share that my thoughts and prayers are with the victims, families and those affected by the tragedy at Sandy Hook in Newtown, CT. I hope that this song will inspire those to be strong as we remember the victims and heroes of Sandy Hook. I pray in the name of Jesus that we as mothers, fathers, daughters,, sons, brothers and sisters heal from this unthinkable tragedy. Amen.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13

End of Days

So there are all these rumors that the world is supposed to end according to the Mayan calendar tomorrow (December 21, 2012). I honestly don’t believe that. As it is said in the Word of our Lord in Mark 13:32 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.”

So I would say it is important that we stop trying to figure out when the end of the world is supposed to be. What is most important is that we keep our faith strong in Him. And as he said in Mark 13:34-37

“It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.
35 “Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn.
36 If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. 37 What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’”

Our focus now should be the celebration and honoring of the birth of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior which is to come on the 25th of December. We are to remain strong in our faith and to not give credit to those who spread falsities.

Revelation 3:10-11 Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.

11 I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.

Have a Blessed Day my Brothers and Sisters in Christ ❤

The LORD is my strength and my shield…

Hello, my name is Elise and welcome to my Jesus Art Prints blog. Relax, get comfy and drink some tea. 😉 One thing that is constant in life is change. Many of us go through various life changes, some are positive and some are negative. Many times when we go through these changes we feel as if life is so unbearable that it feels like there are no viable ways to turn for a better outlook.

Sometimes we may forget that the Lord is always with us. And considering the many things that happen in our world today; crime, violence, and injustices, it may seem like God is absent. Many times we are left with the question, “Why God?” And other times it can be easy to forget to turn to God in times of need because we get so caught up in the moment. One of the purposes of this blog is to remind the followers of Christ that we must not lose sight of God and our Lord Jesus Christ because He is there to comfort us and stand by us. The Lord’s presence through His Word is there to strengthen us. (“My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word” Psalm 119:28) As long as our faith is strong, God is always with us. We must stay strong despite what goes on in the world. As it is said in 1 Cor. 16:13 “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith, be courageous and strong”.

As a resident of Connecticut and a caregiver of children, my prayers go out to the victims and the families affected by the incident at Sandy Hook Elementary School. I understand how it is to love the children, even if they are not your own. They bring such joy and happiness into our lives. They do and say the funniest things and their little questions can make you think in such a way that can shed a simple light on complex situations. It is sad to think that these little angels are no longer with us. But what makes this such a tragedy is that in my experience, the young children have such pure hearts and even with their hearts so pure it did not stop the perpetrator from doing what was done. We can easily to feel that God was not there for them or their families, but only God truly knows what our purpose on this earth is for. A tragedy like this can be taken as a reminder that we must love our children for they are God’s gifts to the world.

In this blog I will present some prints that a dear friend of mine, Joy A. Hayes, has created through her inspirations. Like the Footprints in the Sand poem, these pictures too are an inspiration from God. Joy and I wanted to share these prints with others who feel that life’s struggles and tests can difficult. However if we keep our faith strong, we can overcome ALL obstacles (“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33) These prints are simply reminders that Jesus walks with us as long as we keep our faith in Him.

Footprints In the Sand Poem
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints.
Other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life
When I was suffering from anguish, sorrow, or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.
So I said to the Lord, “You promised me, Lord,
That if I followed you, you would walk with me always.
But I noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
There have only been one set of prints in the sand.
Why, When I have needed you most, you have not been there for me?”
The Lord replied,
“The times when you have seen only one set of footprints
Is when I carried you.”
